ABOUT THE NORTHERN GREAT DANE CLUB
The NGDC is one of the oldest Great Dane clubs in the country, having celebrated its centenary in 2003.
We organise 3 shows per year - a Championship Show in March and 2 Open Shows, one in the Summer and the other in October. In addition we are one of the four clubs which take turns to host the Dane of the Year Show, our last being in 2006.
Our Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of March.
We are involved in the training and assessment of future judges so that they may be added to our judging lists at the appropriate level following a formal application to and approval by our Committee.
We have our own Rescue organisation for Danes in the North West, Fortunately most of the time we have more homes waiting for dogs than dogs waiting for homes, which minimises their distress.
We are also involved in work to improve the health and welfare of the breed, including the investigation of inherited defects, collaborating with the other Clubs and the Breed Council.

The dog shown above is Champion Bencaross Beau Brummel, probably on of the best Great Danes ever seen in the show ring. Bred by our late former secretary Rossall Round and owned by Mr Danby, he gained his title after being exhibited on only three occasions at three Championship Shows. "It's to easy," He was later shown at numerous champ shows, becoming the cc record holder and only used at stud a few times.
